Wanderlust - Available Now!

The world is waiting for her…and he’s waited long enough.
Meg Snow is having hot and wild sex with Cory Traven…in her dreams.
Four years ago he had his chance for a relationship with her. Instead, he joined the military, leaving her to endure Milcott, South Dakota, on her own. Now it’s her turn for adventure and a chance to banish those erotic Cory fantasies once and for all—on a singles cruise to Jamaica.
Cory has come home for what he denied himself four years before. Meg. But she’s made it clear she wants anyone except him. There’s only one way to show her that what she wants and what she needs are two different things. How? Storm the beaches of Jamaica. Infiltrate his way into her bed. Breach the walls of her heart.
And show her that paradise is not in the Caribbean, but in his arms.

Meg entered the house. The familiar scents of childhood washed over her. Pictures of the family hung on the whitewashed walls. A brightly colored, granny-patch afghan draped over the davenport. She ran her fingers along the soft yarn and remembered snuggling against the furnace, wrapped tight on cold winter mornings. The blanket was as old as she was.

She walked down the hall to the kitchen. Her mom had bowls filled with food and delicious aromas floated on the air.

“Uncle Fred is ready to cook the chops.”

“Oh good. You’re here.” Rose clapped her hands together. “I’ll be right back.” She picked up a large tray of meat and headed into the front yard. A moment later she heard her mother call for Uncle Fred. That same voice had called Meg home—from a quarter mile away—for dinner while she was growing up.

Rose returned and dropped the serving tray onto the counter with a clatter. “That man is exasperating. It’s meat for crying out loud. What does it matter what type of dish I bring it to him on?”

Meg chuckled. Pastel flowers were painted the glass dish.

Soon smoke from the cooking meat scented the air. Meg found herself situated in between her mother and her Aunt Bess at the kitchen table discussing where they’d like to be buried when the day came.
“It’s tacky,” Rose stated while pinching the ends off green beans and tossing them into a large plastic bowl.

“I think the marquee is wonderful. I want to be buried in Pierre.” Aunt Bess started the next row on her knitting. Arthritis had gnarled her fingers, but she still managed with her knitting needles. The old woman could cast on so fast Meg’s eyes couldn’t keep track of the threads of yarn.

“Would you have your name in flashing lights? Aunt Bess! Aunt Bess! Aunt Bess! Rest in peace Las Vegas style.” Rose abruptly stood. Her chair scraped against the old wood floor in the ranch house built more than a hundred years before.

“Just think,” Aunt Bess continued, “this way everyone gets their fifteen minutes of fame.”

Meg’s head dropped to the table with a thud.

“Do you have a headache, Margaret dear?” Aunt Bess stroked her hand over the back of her head in a smooth motion.

She lifted her face and smiled. “Maybe I need some fresh air.” She kissed Aunt Bess’s cheek and excused herself.

“Are you going to find Cory?”

All she could do was roll her eyes at her mother’s comment and keep walking. She couldn’t deny that her mother had guessed correctly.

Cory leaned against the porch railing. Fred hovered around the barbecue grill and Lem stood to the side offering instruction on how best to cook chops. Emotion filled his chest—pride, history and mostly a need to be a part of this family. It wasn’t just Meg. This was the life he wanted. His family wasn’t much different.

“Hi.” The woman in his thoughts came up beside him.

He wrapped his arm around her shoulders and pulled her close. She stiffened, but he didn’t let go. He put his nose to her hair and inhaled. “You smell good.”

“Have you been drinking?”

He picked up the half full beer bottle from the porch railing. “My second one.” He spoke close to her ear.

“Don’t, Cory.” She nudged him in the stomach. “My mom will see.”

“And?”

“And she already thinks we’re screwing.” She stepped away from him.

“She does?”

“Don’t sound so happy. She’s determined to prove it.”

“We could have sex and ease her mind.”

Meg ignored him. “She won’t believe we’re just friends if you’re pawing me.” She sank into the porch swing. Putting her foot on the corner post, she sent it rocking.

“We’re more than friends.” He stopped the swing and stared hard into her face.

“No.”

“Yes.”

“Maybe a long time ago. I changed while you were gone.”

His eyes raked her body. “I noticed. The changes are amazing.”

She blew a razzleberry with her lips.

“I don’t care what you say. You want me as much as I want you,” he said.

She rose from the seat and moved close to him. He could smell her sweet breath and see her heart’s rapid beat in the vein of her graceful neck. He wanted his lips there.

“We don’t want the same things.”

“Yes, we do.” He reached out and ran his knuckles over her silky skin in the open collar of her shirt. Her breath hitched. “Admit it. We want exactly the same thing.”

“I’ll admit that I find you attractive. And that I’ve always cherished our friendship. But admit that—”

“You want to go to bed with me.”

She stepped back and slid her hands into her front pockets. She narrowed her eyes and titled her head. “Okay, I admit it. Now what?”

I have started designing my own covers. Now that Samhain, Ellora's Cave and others have closed their doors, I've decided to take those old stories and make them new again.

Here are some of my favorites

Please Welcome Claire Marti

I have a special post today. Grab a cup of coffee or a glass of wine and meet the lovely and talented Claire Marti.
She has a new book out with the Wild Rose Press and I'm so happy she stopped by for a visit.

Welcome Claire,

Thanks for sitting in the hot seat.

First lets talk about you as a writer.

How did you do in English as a kid?

English was always my favorite subject and I got straight A’s.. I was either outside playing with the boys or indoors with my nose buried in a book.

Who is the biggest influence on your writing?

When I was younger I was obsessed with Ernest Hemingway and Ayn Rand. When I found Nora Roberts, I fell in love. Her stories transport me and I return to them again and again. Her characters interaction, banter, and humor get me every time.

I know exactly what you're talking about. there is that one author that sparks the creativity.

Does working to deadline inspire or annoy you?

Both. Having a deadline helps me a great deal because it enables me to plan my writing time in a more structured manner. On the other hand, I stress out over the deadline too. Double-edged sword.

How do you deal with writer's block?

Yoga and nature. I’m a yoga teacher so, I know the benefits of mindful movement and breathing to clear both physical and mental blocks. If I’m totally stuck, I’ll head outside for a walk with my dog Josie.

I've tried hot yoga here in my town. I love that you connect your body and mind. Last year I joined a crossfit box and they totally merge that hardcore crossfit routine with yoga.

Are your books or characters based anyone you know, or events in your own life?

Confession: the ex-fiancĂ© in SECOND CHANCE IN LAGUNA is partially based on my ex-fiancĂ©. He was a serial cheater hiding behind the cloak of Mr. Perfect. It wasn’t hard to express the emotions Sophie feels upon learning of his betrayal.

Yikes, well hopefully in the book the serial cheater gets his due. lol

So now we want to get a little personal.

Do you have a favorite quote?

“When the Japanese mend broken objects, they aggrandize the damage by filling the cracks with gold. They believe that when something's suffered damage and has a history it becomes more beautiful.” By Barbara Bloom. I’m a breast cancer survivor and this quote helps when the scars feel overwhelming at times. I’m also a big believer in the tough times making you stronger.

That's awesome. When I wear my pink ribbon, I will wear it for you too. Our family knows the frightening reality of breast cancer.

What is your favorite drink?

Red, red, wine.
That reminds me of UB40. I love this song.

Are you fun to go on vacation with?
Absolutely. I love to travel and am lucky enough to have started traveling at a young age. My dad Is French so I’ve spent a great deal of time in France and spent my junior year in college in Paris. I’m happiest exploring new places or returning to beloved locales. I prefer to eat, drink, and walk my way through new cities and countries and experience the culture as opposed to a following a set itinerary.

I love to vacation too but recently discovered I am no good on a cruise ship.

What makes you cry?
Any type of abuse or harm to animals. I cannot comprehend how anyone could hurt an animal for any reason. I’m the person who was always bringing home the strays and have three adopted furry children.

Finally, what makes you laugh?
Luckily, I’m easily entertained so, comedy in many forms fits the bill for me. Movies, books, my crazy cats, my friends…you name it. I also laugh at myself a lot because I’m a bit of a geek.

Thank you so much for stopping by my blog.

Learning a lesson the hard way

OMG, so I have always has this issue with boat sickness. And I've had it for years. sometimes it's pretty severe, other times, I function almost normal...almost. I haven't been without symptoms since I was a pre-teen.
So in a not so lucky small portion of people, we get boat sick from just about anything.
You can learn more about MdDS here.
I don't take elevators, walk on unstable things like docks, trampolines, or even pillows on the floor because it will make me a little sick. Flying in an airplane, staying in a high rise hotel (like RT in Houston several years ago) I'm a mess for weeks to months. Now here is the brilliant part of my story. Okay my not so brilliant moment. In my stupid thinking, I wanted to take a cruise. so I booked a short little late winter trip for my family.

UGH, NEVER again. Why oh why did I think I could do this. So we sailed March 6 and returned March 10, but not me. I'm still on the f#%@ing boat! at least my brain thinks it is. It's like I can't get off the ride. So next time I decide to try something that I know, because I really did know this wasn't going to go well, I'm going to remember this miserable time in my life.

So yep, another lesson I had to learn the hard way.

Soda Pop cupcakes

If you are in a hurry for a quick treat, try soda pop cupcakes. all you need is a boxed cake mix and a can of soda. some of my favorite combinations are a yellow cake with a sprite, a chocolate cake with a Dr. Pepper and a chocolate fudge cake mix with a Cherry coke.

Mix the can of soda with the boxed cake mix. it is a little bubbly/foamy as you stir it together, but it quickly settles into a nice batter.

muffin tins sprayed with cooking spray work better than paper liners for these treats.

bake according to the cake mix box.

voila! easy treats.

White Chocolate popcorn

A super easy treat for movie night, neighbor gifts or just munching on when you want something sweet and a little salty.

You'll need (and yes, these are my supplies on my counter)

Microwave popcorn. the buttery type works best. I always by the Movie Theater Butter
Vanilla almond bark (this is candy coating that tastes like white chocolate
waxed paper

Pop the corn, pour into a large bowl.
melt two squares of almond bark.
drizzle the melted chocolate over the popcorn and gently stir to coat.

pour onto wax paper, spread it out in a single layer so the chocolate can set.

Once set, (about 15 minutes if your kitchen isn't too warm) mine is always cold so it sets up quickly.
voila, easy, fancy popcorn.
I'll be taking this to my family Christmas party.

Repost - Christmas Thin Mint Cookies

I know I've shared this one with you before, but it's the easiest cookie recipe it deserves a repeat.
My boys wouldn't think if was Christmas if we didn't have a plastic container in the fridge filled with thin mint cookies.

Supplies: Ritz crackers
chocolate candy coating/Chocolate bark
peppermint extract
cotton balls

Melt the chocolate. I usually use my crockpot on low until it's melted, then turn to warm to keep the chocolate melted.

Dip a cracker in the melted chocolate until
covered. I use a fork s
o I can tap off the excess chocolate on the inside edge of the crockpot.

Place chocolate covered cracker on wax paper.

once the chocolate has set on the crackers, stack them in a plastic/Tupperware container between layers of wax paper. I use an empty gallon ice cream bucket.

Tip the peppermint extract into a cotton ball to wet. Just a few drops per cotton ball. Every couple of layers of cookies, place a peppermint cotton ball.

Store cookies in the air tight container in a cool place. After 24 hours of soaking up the peppermint extract, they are ready to eat. they taste just like a thin mint cookie.

Happy Holidays

Joys of the Season Blog Hop

Merry Christmas and welcome to the Joys of the Seasons Blog Hop. Today I thought I’d share a little holiday trivia with you.

First, did you know that there is actually buzz on the internet that now claims the Coca Cola company is responsible for the look of Santa because of their iconic Christmas campaigns. However, Santa has evolved from books, artists and historians into what we know of Santa today.

Did you know ‘Twas the Night Before Christmas’ was a poem we almost never read. Clement Clarke Moore wrote the poem for his family in 1922, but thought it too beneath his talents for publication. Even after a close family friend submitted it to the Sentinel newspaper and it was published anonymously, Moore denied penning the hugely popular story. But after fifteen years, his children finally convinced him to claim the beloved poem.

Finally, you know Dancer and Prancer, Comet…you know the song. But did you know Rudolph started out at as a commercial promotion for Montgomery Ward in 1939. Children visiting the store to see Santa were given a booklet about Rudolph. However, Rudolph didn’t become a superstar until his story was set to music.

Okay and a bonus piece of trivia. Christmas is my favorite holiday. I love Christmas music, holiday lights, heart-warming decorations all over my house…and I LOVE to bake. Iron Man is Available Now

Book Two is Here!

Available at Amazon and other online retailers.

Rafe wanted more—a blood bond, with his blood slave Adam. However Adam wasn’t willing to join the vampire world so he left Rafe and the vampire world behind.

Now Adam is back in town for the holidays. They can rekindle their romance in the fetish club, The Catacombs, where Adam is known as Iron Man because of his steel hardware. But what happens after a week of wild, aggressive, kinky-as-hell sex?
When it’s time to return to the real world, Adam is torn. Rafe is more than a vampire, more than his lover. He’s his partner. Adam isn’t sure he can give up his humanity, even for the man he loves. He has to decide—a vampire blood bond or his lonely human life without Rafe.
Note: Two sexy men in a fetish club can get into a lot of kinky situations, so be prepared for anything, including all-male, multiple-partner bondage sex and orgies in very public places.

and now for a little taste of Rafe and Adam...

The neighbors had really outdone themselves this Christmas. Colorful lights dripped from the house. The shrubs twinkled under the blanket of white and the porch pillars were wrapped to look like candy canes. Rafe hadn’t put up a single holiday decoration. He no longer considered himself religious—not for three years. Not since becoming vampire.
With a groan, he leaned into the cushions. He was twenty-six years old and a seasoned firefighter of five years. This week off work was going to be hell. Shit, his life was hell. He wasn’t taking time off by choice. His captain had insisted that he needed to mourn. He worked the graveyard shift at the station. And while he trusted the humans he worked with in harried situations such as an out-of-control inferno, he didn’t trust them enough to bring any of them into his personal life. He hadn’t trusted anyone since Adam. And that relationship hadn’t worked out as he’d hoped.
Adam had been more than a blood slave to sate his hunger. At least, Rafe had wanted more. Without forging a blood bond, he and Adam couldn’t have eternity. For that Adam had to become vampire, had to exchange blood with Rafe. They would not only bind their lives, they would share thoughts and live as one.
“Love,” he said into the empty room. Love hurt like hell. Rafe had pushed, obviously asking for more than Adam had been willing to give. Then he’d pushed Adam out of his life altogether because Rafe hadn’t been willing to settle for less than forever.
Now, instead of the sweet taste of Adam’s blood floating over his tongue and warming his body, he fed from slaves at The Catacombs. Men who served the sect, served vampires. Men who weren’t like Adam. Adam hadn’t fed any vampire except Rafe. They hadn’t just been symbiotic. They’d been partners.
Rafe drove the maudlin thoughts from his mind and considered his current situation. Tonight he’d rather not be home. He’d rather be hanging out at the fire station or on a call. He didn’t wish harm to anyone, especially this time of year, but nothing cleared the mind like focusing on something else. Fires were dangerous, explosive and unpredictable. Exactly the way he felt.
At some point, he’d need to think about feeding. Right now, he just couldn’t summon the strength to move. The silence was deafening.
Rafe started at a knock on the door. The hour had grown late. He couldn’t think of anyone who would bother him tonight—not after the funeral. At this hour, his friends would be at The Catacombs.
With a heavy sigh, he stood, strode over to the door and pulled it open.
“Hi, Rafe, I heard you had a bad day.”
His gut clenched. Emotion choked his throat. Adam Cross was the last person he expected to see at his front door. “You could say it’s been a bad year.” And it hadn’t improved when this man walked away.
“May I come in?”
Rafe stuffed his hands into the front pockets of his jeans. He swallowed hard at the sight of his ex. Today had already left him drained. He wasn’t sure he wanted to handle a conversation with Adam. But he stepped aside anyway. “Sure. Can’t say I’m very good company.”
Adam dusted snowflakes from his rakishly tousled hair and hunched his shoulders as he crossed the threshold. “I used to be able to cheer you up.” He faced Rafe. Heavy silence hung between them. His full lips pulled into a somber line and were slightly reddened from the cold. “It’s been a while. I had to see you, although I wish the circumstance were better.”
Memories of them together still stung. The breakup hadn’t been bitter or angry. Adam had the opportunity to take a position in Washington, DC, consulting for the government. Prestigious, lucrative and a once-in-a-lifetime chance to excel in his field. All excuses. Adam had left to get away from Rafe. He’d made his choice.

Adam’s skin warmed. Rafe flared his nostrils, drawing in more of the coppery-sweet aroma of the thick blood flowing through Adam. His cock stirred. Time hadn’t lessoned his appetite for this man. His acute hunger intensified and bordered on painful. As much as he needed to feed and wanted to fuck, now wasn’t the time to ravage his former lover. Emotions still ran too deep and Rafe still wanted more than Adam’s blood. He still wanted more than Adam was willing to give.

Read for Free on Kindle Unlimited!

THE HIGHLANDER'S IMPROPER WIFE by KyAnn Waters and Tarah Scott
A proper young lady should never attend a Masque...Aphrodite is no lady.

Betrothal to the callous Lord Blackhall painted a future devoid of love. Upon his death, Lady Caroline Wilmont is promised to the younger brother. Caroline refuses to allow her first taste of desire to be at the hands of a man who would rather have any woman but her. This, her last night of freedom, is to be a memory of lust that she can take with her throughout her loveless marriage. As Aphrodite, Caroline attends a masque determined to find a man to initiate her into the intimacies of erotic love.

Taran Robertson, Viscount of Blackhall, makes no secret that he despises his obligation to marry the Sassenach heiress chosen for him by his father. As a last foray before his wedding, he attends a masque. However, the spirited vixen he meets and seduces has secrets...secrets that just may reveal he’s to have an improper wife.

A MEASURED RISK by Natasha Blackthorne
He is her most dangerous temptation and now he is demanding her submission. Dare she take the risk?

Book one in the Regency Risks Series

Emotionally scarred in the horrific accident that took her husband's life, Lady Cranfield is imprisoned by her lingering terror of horses and carriages. She longed to be closer to the fascinating Earl of Ruel. She sensed intuitively that he could teach her how to overcome the terrors that held her in bondage.

And now she's willing to risk almost anything-her reputation, even her virtue-to find out. But what he proposes startles her.

When the shy, studious and socially awkward young widow approached him, Ruel instantly sensed she would be the sweetest, most submissive experience of a lifetime-if only he can gain her total and complete trust. He makes her a non-negotiable offer. His help in return for her submission and obedience.

But Lady Cranfield grew up neglected by her ducal parents, raised by servants and then later ignored by her handsome, charming husband. She's learnt to protect her heart at all costs and she trusts no one but herself.

How can the jaded Earl of Ruel break through her self-protective defences and show her how to love when he has spent his lifetime avoiding that tender trap?

SEDUCED by Tarah Scott
It’s a Mississippi Deputy Sheriff’s duty to bring a serial killer to justice…even when he’s a three hundred year old Scottish lord. It’s an SAS agent’s duty to save her.

With each passing day, Lord Colin Morrison grows more furious...and more desperate. In three hundred years, not one of the women who shared his bed broke the spell that imprisoned him in Castle Morrison. Margot Saulnier is different. She can save him. All she has to do is give in to her desire for him. Then die.

Deputy Sheriff Margot Saulnier knows her best friend murdered her husband—Margot’s cousin—but she can’t prove it. Now, four years later, out of the blue, Cat calls Margot from Scotland and invites her to visit. Margot turns in her badge and leaves Mississippi. This time, she’ll do whatever it takes to prove Cat murdered Donny. Margot didn’t plan on falling in love with an SAS Agent—or a three-hundred-year-old Scottish lord. Now she must choose.

SAS Agent Charles McNeil is going to keep Margot Saulnier out of trouble—whether she likes it or not. He understands her need for justice, but with no proof and no authority, she’s headed for serious trouble. So is he. Charles didn’t plan on falling in love with Margot. Neither did he plan on saving her from a serial killer.
