It's a Hard Ride Home.

And it's finally here!
my first m/m erotic novel.
www.EllorasCave.com

After a seven-year absence, only a catastrophic event could bring Trace Tilton home to Farley Gulch — like his father having a heart attack. Once Bud's on the mend, Trace plans to leave the Triple T Ranch again. He's certain his gruff father will never accept his…lifestyle.

Triple T foreman Nash Stokes thinks Farley Gulch is the ideal place for a man to live a simple life — and keep his sexual preference a secret. A hot roll in the hay with his boss's gorgeous son is the last thing he expected. Before long, scorching passion and small-town rumor find both men taking a Hard Ride Home.

Excerpt:

What had possessed Trace to ask Nash to the bar?

If he tried, he could convince himself he'd made the invitation to provide a barrier between him, Colette and the rest of the town. He didn't want to rekindle past friendships. Maybe if he planned to stay, but realistically it wouldn't work. He enjoyed men, liked to work out at the gym with his friends, enjoyed a good meal at a nice restaurant. And if he went on a date and the night ended in bed, all the better.

Heading down the hall to his old room, he passed by the cracked-open bathroom door and froze. Steam clouded the mirror. Pipes rattled under the water pressure. There was no mistaking Nash on the other side of the glass shower door. His head tipped back, water and shampoo suds sluicing over his body.

Trace couldn't turn or walk away. Breathing became difficult. His heart hammered in his chest. The man was fucking gorgeous. Solid muscle, long legs with heavy thighs and dark whorls of hair on his pectorals. A thin ribbon of hair trailed down his stomach and surrounded a beautiful cock. Christ. Nash's balls hung heavy in a dark sac. He swallowed hard. Nash reached down and shut off the water.

Trace turned away and leaned against the hallway wall. He tried to quiet his labored breathing. But his heart raced and chills broke along his skin. Adrenaline pumped through his veins. The shower door opened and the creak of the towel rack gave Trace a perfect idea of what was happening on the other side of the wall.

The last thing he needed was for the rough cowboy to discover him with a hard-on in his pants. He quickly walked down the hall to his room.

Opening the door, he realized his hand shook.

Well, hell. Apparently, he didn't have a room anymore.

Trace glanced down the hall toward the bathroom. Nash stood a few feet away with a towel wrapped around his waist. Water dripped from his hair. Several strands clung to the bronzed skin of his neck.

"You moved into my old room?"

Nash approached. Trace liked the way the towel parted, teasing him with a glimpse of thigh. Black hair on his calves and shins also covered his upper legs. Trace liked manly men. Nothing feminine. He wanted aggression, testosterone and a big tool. Nash had it all in spades.

"Didn't know this was your room." Nash brushed past him and Trace caught a whiff of soap and male. He stopped just inside the room and turned to Trace. Their eyes locked.

A lump the size of a boulder lodged in Trace's throat. Normally he wasn't at a loss for words. Yet he stood at the threshold of his old room filled with Nash's belongings and tried to think of something to say—anything—because Nash waited there naked with the exception of the terrycloth towel. Clean-shaven, wet hair slicked back and his skin carrying a healthy flush from the hot water.

Awkward silence stretched between the two men. Trace couldn't help noticing the growing bulge behind the towel. Picking up guys in a gay bar or introductions made through friends didn't require a declaration of sexual preference. But shit if he could tell what rumbled around in Nash's head. Normal intuition failed. He wasn't getting the vibe. The one that expressed interest.

Yet, straight men didn't tend to make eye contact with other men when wearing a towel and sporting a boner.

"I'm getting dressed." Nash loosened the towel.

Trace forgot to breathe. His heart pounded and his cock jumped. Muscles in his ass clenched with need. Saliva filled his mouth with want of sucking Nash off. A muscle in his jaw jumped as he clenched his teeth—hard.

Nash's eyebrow rose in question. "Did you need something?"

Post for Monday Dec, 8 Christmas Ride Blog Event!

Hang the Mistletoe and pucker up!

Mistletoe is also known as the golden bough and once held sacred by Celtic Druids and Norseman. The potent plant was once called Allheal and used in folk medicine and Native Americans used it for toothache, measles and dog bites. In Scandinavian antiquity it a peace plant. If enemies met by chance beneath it in a forest, they agreed on a truce until the next day.

5 days after the New Moon following winter solstice, Mistletoe was used by the Druid priesthood in a special ceremony. Mistletoe would be cut from a holy oak tree with a golden sickle and the branches caught before they hitting the ground. The branches were divided into many sprigs and given to people to hang over their doorways for protection a against thunder, lightning and other evils. Over the years, the magic of this plant has taken many forms such as placing a sprig in a baby's cradle to protect the infant from faeries. Or giving a sprig to the first cow calving after New Year to protect the herd.

But how did it come to mean a kiss?
Although many sources say that kissing under the mistletoe is an English custom, there's another explanation for its origin. In Norse mythology there is a story of a loving, if overprotective, mother.

Frigga was mother to the Norse god Balder, the best loved of all the gods. Frigga was the goddess of love and beauty and she loved her son. To ensure no harm would come to him, she went through the world securing promises from everything that sprang from the four elements--fire, water, air, and earth--that they would not harm her beloved Balder.
Leave it to Loki, a mischievous spirit, to find the loophole. Mistletoe and an arrow made from its wood. To make the prank even nastier, he took the arrow to Hoder, Balder's brother, who was blind. Guiding Holder's hand, Loki directed the arrow at Balder's heart, and Balder fell dead.
Frigga's tears became the mistletoe's white berries. In the version of the story with a happy ending, Balder is restored to life, and Frigga is so grateful that she reverses the murderous reputation of Mistletoe--making it a symbol of love and promising to bestow a kiss upon anyone who passes under it.

Information gleaned from numerous online searches for mistletoe lore.

Is the old adage true? Life is not a romance novel . . . or is it?

From sweet stories about the first blush of love to those sultry stories that give you tummy tugs and make your squirm on your chair, romance stories inspire and titillate. Whether reading a great romantic suspense or a magical fantasy romance, you imagine yourself as the heroine and are carried away into the whimsy and imagination of the author. The hero is handsome, strong, intelligent and resourceful. If you’re reading one of my stories, he’s wielding an impressive weapon (and yes, I’m talking about that weapon) and his skills are unmatched. Now you have to wonder…where in the hell are all the real life heroes?

Reality—men are often in a hurry and thank god, because the kids want dinner and the laundry needs folded. And if you even think about a little midnight affection, be prepared to die because the alarm clock is going to scream at five a.m. and this heroine needs her beauty sleep!

I’ve heard some outrageous misconceptions, but I know why I write erotic romance. I love great sex! I love to read erotic romance because I love great sex!

I spoke to some friends who are avid readers and are happy that I write erotic romance because they love scorching heat between the pages.

I had one friend tell me that her husband is on blood pressure medication and although their marriage is good, reading my stories is the only sex she has at this point in her life.

And I was quite surprised when another friend informed me that she reads my books to her husband in bed and that it’s perfect foreplay to foreplay. (let’s just say I’ll be blushing the next time I have dinner at their house.) My next release, Hard Ride Home, is coming December 10th to Ellora’s Cave. The story is male/male erotic romance. I don’t think that one is going to have the same responses. But then you never know, because two weapons are better than one.

So are women truly looking for what they find in a book? Or are they just glad that there are authors out there willing to give them a taste of the possible? I’ve heard it said that sex can never be as good as it is in a romance novel…but I believe romance writers show readers that a romance novel is an erotic way to spice up your love life.

Rough Justice is here!!
~
It is not Roxanne's night...but it soon will be.
~
Five miles from home, she runs out of gas. Unable to reach her best friend Jay on his cell, she calls local sheriff — and current object of lust — Ivan Soto. On the dark and deserted country road, Ivan shocks Roxie by forcing her to assume the position — against her car with her legs spread.
~
When Jay rushes to Roxie's to make sure she's made it home safely, he discovers her in the custody of Sheriff Soto, experiencing a little Rough Justice. Jay wants Roxie to have a good time, but if
Ivan wants to frisk her further, he'll have to learn to share.
~
~
What the reviewers are saying about Rough Justice.
~
"Rough Justice is an absolutely sensuous and brilliant story. There is conflict and miscommunication, plus drama, sensuality and passion. Everything needed for a fantastic read is there in the pages of this story...This is a must read story.
~
"This story was so well written, and I enjoyed every word. I would have liked it to be a little longer, but only because I wasn't ready to say goodbye to these three yet, not because of any deficiency in the plot. Ms. Waters very happily brings this group of people together in a loving, sexy, rough-and-tumble, romantic way. This book is a must-read, and then a must-read again!"

.
“Step out of the vehicle with your hands in the air.” The mechanical tone of the sheriff’s amplified voice sent a shiver down her spine.
.
“What?”
.
“Hands in the air!”
.
Roxie stared. “Is this a joke?” she yelled.
.
“Walk to the rear of your vehicle, face away from me, put your hands on your hot little sports car and spread your legs.”
.
“Are you serious?”
.
“Do it!”
.
She was under arrest! “Asshole,” she muttered. To think she was about to masturbate to the man in order to pass the time and instead he had her assuming the position. She strode to the rear of the car, put her hands above the bumper and spread her legs.
.
She heard the release of the handle as he opened the cruiser door. Gravel crunched under Sheriff Soto’s boots. Her heart hammered against her ribs with each step of his approach. Her breathing became shallow.
.
He stopped behind her. “Normally I catch you hauling ass.”
.
“I swear your radar gun has it out for me.”
.
“Yeah, could be something like that. Also might have something to do with your car. Apparently it idles at eighty.”
.
She gave a snort and glanced over her shoulder. Sheriff Soto stood, his eyes locked on her ass. With the bright spotlight she imagined he could see right through her skirt. That was an arousing thought. A rush of liquid heat flowed through her veins and a flicker of awareness pulsed in her core. A familiar effect whenever the sheriff was around. “My car isn’t even running.” She hitched a hip and tapped the toe of her boot. “I called you for a ride.” She glanced over her shoulder again. “Do you want to give me a ride, Sheriff Soto?”
.
He closed the distance between them, standing close behind her. Hot breath fanned against her flesh. “Are you soliciting a police officer? Prostitution is a felony.”
.
Her pulse jumped. “No! I didn’t say anything about paying for a ride.”“I can haul your ass in for that.”
.
“And I could lodge a complaint for police harassment.” She straightened and flipped her hair. Her knees might be weak from his authoritarian presence, but she didn’t have to show it.
.
“Is that a threat?” His voice deepened.
.
“If you weren’t on duty, I’d ask if you were drunk.” She tried to turn but he leaned into her.
.
“Technically I’m off duty as soon as I deal with a woman stranded on the side of the road.”
.
“Deal with? I’ve always been nice to you.”
.
“Oh Roxanne…I can be nice too.”
.
“Then why are you giving me a hard time?”
.
“I’m not—yet.” He nudged the side of her boot with his. “Now spread your legs.”
.
“Not the first time I’ve heard that one.”
.
He chuckled and she melted a little more. “As long as it’s the first time tonight.”
.
Oh hell, there was definitely a double meaning in that. She shivered from the press of his utility belt in her back. Everything about him was hard, including what she knew to be his cock and not his gun. The rush of blood to her pussy had her clenching in want. “I need a ride home.” Yeah, she needed a lot more than that. She shifted slightly, arched just enough to brush against him. He pressed closer and cradled his erection in the crack of her ass. “I ran out of gas.”
.
Ivan Soto had pulled her over for a speeding violation for the first time six months prior. Since then, he’d given her four tickets for speeding and more warnings than she could count. On each occasion she’d flirted shamelessly. But Sheriff Soto had always remained professional. He’d played along a bit but had never once crossed the line of professionalism. Had he given her more of an indication he was interested, she would’ve made a move weeks ago. Her panties had been wet for the hot cop since their first encounter.
.
Sheriff Soto’s hands trailed over the silky smooth material of her miniskirt. “I’ll need to search you for weapons before I can allow you into my vehicle.” His lips feathered against the shell of her ear. “How badly do you need a ride?”

So I try not to be a complainer, but OMG, I'm going insane. For two years my left eye had become an increasing problem. It was dry, would burn, well, it started affecting how much time I could spend on the computer. so you know then it's time to do something about it. When I'd look in the mirror, my eye would be very bloodshot in the corner, then there was this small "something" for lack of a better word. sort of looked like a small blister near my iris.

Went to the family doctor, he sent me to the specialist, and last Friday I had surgery to have it removed.

holy shit, they told me it would be painful. that isn't really the problem although it's no picnic. It's that I can't see, it itches or it hurts. I never should have googled then watched the procedure on You tube. lol but the good thing is, is that the pterygium has been removed and they grafted a good piece of eyeball to the area.

Probably more than you wanted to know. one thing I have discovered is that a lot of people have this problem. So far the surgery hasn't been fun, but TWO, yes TWO! months from now when my eyeball is healed I won't have the irritated left eye.

Now I've taken to saying Arrg a lot since one eye is always closed. My husband just calls me popeye.

now you all know why I've been inactive on my blog and loops.

It's Here!!

With or Without You by KyAnn Waters

available today from Samhain Publishing!

Blurb:

The best mistake she ever made…
Tessa Brooks is dated. Not dated as in going out with men—having dinner and light conversation in poorly lit restaurants in hopes of finding someone with whom she can get naked. No, Tessa is dated. And the year she seems stuck in is 1988. The year her life changed.
With her twenty-year high school reunion coming up, Tessa’s daughter has surprised her with a makeover on the Jade Star television talk show. However, that’s not the only surprise. Enter Matt Toler, the best mistake she ever made. Tessa might not feel a ribbon of panic tightening around her neck if Matt had spoken to her again after their one-night sexual encounter…and if knew he had a daughter.

Excerpt:

The audience applauded. Colored strobes and flashing lights pulsed over the stage. With or Without You by U2 piped through the sound system. Tessa was transported back to prom night, 1988, and her heart skipped a beat. Brianna didn’t…wouldn’t…couldn’t… Oh God, if she did…

“Are you ready for your second clue?” Jade crooned.

Tessa didn’t need another clue. Only two men had been with her the night that song played. Please, please, please, she privately prayed. Be bachelor number one. Stan Yarrow owned and operated the local pharmacy back home. She and Stan had been friends and he’d taken her to the prom, but the real dance hadn’t taken place until much later…with bachelor number two…Matt Toler.

She swiveled around, eyes darting about searching for a face she’d prayed she’d never see again but also lingered in her thoughts more than she cared to admit. How could he not? They’d shared an incredible night…one stupid, irresponsible, romantic encounter that had changed her life.

Bright lights flashed above the audience.

Jade stood next to Tessa. “Here is your second clue.”

The voice that had haunted her dreams for the last twenty years blended with the music. Just as he sounded in 1988, Matt Toler said hello. Oh crap, it was him! He was here…somewhere. She glanced around the stage, over the audience, to the ceiling where the detached voice echoed.

Suddenly her skin grew clammy. Her attention shifted to Brianna. What in the hell had they told him to get him to come on the show? Did he remember her too? She might not feel this ribbon of panic tightening around her neck if Matt Toler had known her before April 23, 1988…or had ever spoken to her one single time after Sunday, April 24.

~.~

Matt stood on the other side of a silk screen. He couldn’t believe he actually agreed to come on a daytime television show to rekindle a romance with a high school sweetheart. The muted melody from the theme song of his senior prom blended with ohs and ahs from the studio audience.

He’d received the call a week ago. The producer from the Jade Star daytime talk show told him someone from his high school days wanted to reconnect. They hadn’t been specific, but the message had been clear. The show was reuniting lost lovers.

Matt had dated girls, but there had only been one who would call a daytime talk show for a second chance hook-up.

Heather Krump. Cheerleader, class vice president, she’d dated him off and on for most of their senior year. They’d had some crazy times. Then he’d left for college right after high school and she’d become a cheerleader for a professional basketball team back East.

The stage tech snapped his fingers and pointed to the side entrance leading to the studio set.
More applause sounded. His stomach tightened. Lately he’d lacked excitement in his life. This wasn’t exactly what he had in mind when seeking adventure, but who was he to balk at opportunity knocking? He and Heather had history…mostly good history.

He couldn’t wait to see what she looked like now. In high school she’d been lean muscle, long dark hair, and had an enticing ass that molded to his palms. He took a deep breath and settled the flash of sexual awareness heating his blood. The last thing he needed was to walk across the stage with a blatant erection.

His hands formed fists at his sides. Tension pulled at his forehead. He relaxed his face into a smile, unclenched his hands and walked into the bright lights.
Confusion crept into his mind. He vaguely recognized the woman on the stage and there was something familiar in the younger woman with her. The younger woman smiled wide with straight white teeth glinting under the bright stage lights. He couldn’t say the same thing for the older woman. Her mouth narrowed into a thin-lipped line. Her eyes widened when she looked at him.

Oh hell, she was clearly not Heather. This woman had blonde hair that moved softly around her shoulders when she looked from him to the woman at her side. Subtle makeup, incredible figure, he supposed it could be Heather. He didn’t remember Heather being so petite, but hell, twenty years could dull anyone’s memory.

Finally the hum of voices around him drilled through the confusion. He turned to Jade Star.

“Matt, are you surprised?” Jade put her arm around the older woman.

Uneasiness squirmed around in his gut. How could he pluck the name out of Jade and not look like he’d forgotten the woman? Not the woman, he was sure he knew her from high school. But what was her name? Perhaps if he wasn’t a bit jetlagged and hadn’t just completed a heavy week at the hospital, he could remember. Doctors tended to have great memories. Two years could pass and he remembered a patient’s name, but come on, twenty years? He wished Jade would put him out of his misery rather than continuing to stand there and stare at him as if he’d grown a third eye and uni-brow.

Hell. He’d done it often enough, he’d bullshit his way through. Opening his arms, he smiled big and bright for the host, the television audience, millions of viewers at home and the almost-stranger in front of him. Then he pulled the blonde woman into his arms and gave her a hug.

Interesting, he felt her breath catch. Beneath the silk of her dress she trembled. Not intending a lustful embrace, but with his hands sliding against the smooth feminine contours of her back, detailing her ribs, he pulled her a bit tighter.

She responded. The audience erupted in cheers and applause.

“I’m sorry.” Her lips brushed the shell of his ear when she whispered.

Chills broke across his skin at the seductive tone to her voice. She could make millions as a phone sex provider. Two little words had his cock hardening and images of this hug taking place with less clothing. Male lust, sure, but he didn’t consider himself a letch. He worked with nurses, had female patients. Imagining a woman naked thirty seconds after he met her was definitely off-par for him. In fact, he could really only remember one other time when lust had sucker-punched him in the gut.

Tessa Brooks.

Well I finished edits on Rough Justice. YAY. Here is the blurb
It is not Roxanne Savage’s night…but it will be.

Five miles from home, in the middle of nowhere, she runs out of gas. Unable to reach her best friend, Jay Turpin, on his cell, she calls local sheriff—and current object of lust—Ivan Soto.

For six months Ivan and Roxie have been playing a game of cat and mouse. Coming to her rescue on a deserted country road, Ivan finally has Roxie right where he wants her—assuming the position up against her car, with her legs spread.

When Jay rushes to Roxie’s to make sure she’s made it home safely, he discovers her in the custody of Sheriff Soto, experiencing a little Rough Justice. Jay loves to see Roxie having a good time, but if Ivan wants to frisk her further, he’ll have to learn to share.

So my question for today--
Do you have any secret weapons for getting out a speeding ticket? Have you ever flirted to get out of a ticket? I was able to get out of a ticket, but not by flirting. I was about 8 months pregnant and as big as a house. I'd had a decaf latte. I told the cop that I couldn't wear my seal belt or I'd throw up. (which was true) I was only going a couple of blocks, and he kindly said, hope you feel better. I swear he only had sympathy because I barely fit behind the wheel. lol

My Question today -- what is your favorite time of year?

Monday, July 28, 2008

Good morning everyone, only a few days left for the Christmas in July event.

(see yesterday's post for yesterday's winner)

Today I'll be giving away a gift certificate to The Wild Rose Press.

this weekend I got stuck watching the Halmark channel. the Love Comes Softly saga was on and I found myself watching one after another and not getting much of anything else done. Confession two- I love the Little House on the Prairie series. And Anne of Green Gables. Oh hello- I'm sharing my dirty little secrets. lol

I balance it with a love for action/adventure. Like the Bourne Movies and X-Men Movies.

so for my question.
If you could travel back in time, which era would you visit and why?

After Dark in the Ellora's Cave Jewels of the Nile Cavemen Anthology Vol II.

(see yesterday's post for yesterday's winner.)

After Dark has been by far the most challenging piece I've ever written. I can remember calling my critique partner, asking her to listen to me ramble, so that she could summarize what I said. Working on the DNA of breeding vampires was like doing long division in my head. (and math is not my thing) By the time I'd get one aspect figured out, it would create a whole other set of complications. For instance, if these vampires breed, what would happen when they feed? Part of the intrigue with a vampire is the changing of a human into vampire. In romance fiction we take liberties with werewolves, time travel, vampires, and such. I know I want to put my own spin on my paranormal. But at the same time if a writer deviates too far from the expected, they risk ruining the character. A vampire needs to bite and feed. A werewolf needs to shift-It's what we, as readers, love about werewolves.

After Dark is a nightclub, only it's also the vampires' feeding grounds. My vampire hero is Native American in this story.

Blurb: Kayla March has never reached orgasm...not even with a vibrator. However, she has the feeling that could all change when she meets Alandro Blackwood at the club After Dark.

Few vampires can breed. Alandro carries the unique recessive gene. His blood match, believed to have been killed by a vampire slayer, has been found. Unless her dormant vampire gene had already been awakened by a breeder, why would she go to After Dark, the feeding grounds? He'd soon find out.

Winner today will receive the Ellora's Cave 2008 playing card deck.

My question today -- What's the one thing you're most neurotic about? My list I'm sad to say, is endless. My husband is a good chap, because while I'm controlling just about everything in the house, he's happy to let me do it. I do understand that I have a problem letting go of certain things, and I'll ask him if he's okay with my decisions. He says he likes being married to me and so yep, it's all good. However, when someone asks him if he's read my books, his reply is also "no, because he likes being married to me." Then he'll look at me and say Sorry, baby, I don't read that stuff. Sheesh, if he only knew what he was missing. :)

Winner's choice today. Pick anything from my backlist. Lisa or KyAnn (excluding the EC Cavemen. I need to find out if I can offer that as a prize since I'd be giving away 5 other author's stories)

(see yesterday's post for yesterday's winner)

The Perfect kisses

Butterfly Kiss - Brush your eyelashes against your lover.

Cheek Kiss - The perfect way to say I like you. With your hands on your partner's shoulders, gently brush your lips across her cheek.

Earlobe Kiss - Gently sip and suck the earlobe.

Eskimo Kiss - touching and rubbing noses

Melting hot Kiss - Kiss your partner with a small piece of ice melting on your tongue.

French Kiss - Mouth, lips and...tongue. mmmm.

Hickey Kiss - also know as the get your ass kicked kiss. lol

Lip Sucking Kiss - When kissing gently suck on your lover's lower lip.

Quickie Kiss - When you're in a rush. Often the nose gets it rather than the lips.

Good morning kiss - Gentle kiss your lover's face, until finally brushing his mouth with yours.

tomorrow we can chat about the best places to kiss ;)

Where is the sexiest place you've ever been kissed? When I used to live in Redondo Beach, I can remember long walks on the beach with my husband. The sound of the surf crashing into the spongy shore. Kisses where I could taste the salt and sea on his lips. the air was chilled just enough that his hands were warm on my arms. It was nice.

Now he gives me a peck on the way out the door. :)

Good Morning,

I've been sleeping in, but this morning it's time to get back on my schedule. Today I'm giving away Rogue's Challange by Jo Barrett.

Blurb: He made a vow to fetch the woman back through time. 'Twas a task not taken lightly. But he had not predicted her stubbornness or her beauty. The petite woman with the tenacity of a mule may just find a way into his roguish heart.

This book is at the top of my to-be-read pile. Once again I want to thank Jo for her contribution to my blog event. visit her at http://www.jobarrett.net/.

Also a congratulations to Kealie for my bonus website prize. Bella is sitting next to me now and Bentley is curled up on the couch.

Now I'm off to make coffee. I have appointments this morning, then do a bit of cleaning. Hopefully I'm going to write this afternoon. My life is pretty much a formula. I told my boys if they didn't give me today to clean, I'm taking two weeks of electronic priviledges. no TV or video games. well, you can guess how that went over. lol

so to everyone else with a challenge ahead of them today...good luck. I know all need it.

So for my question. Do you care if the sex between a h/h comes right away in a story or do you prefer a strong sexual tension and buildup? Or do you get frustrated when your thoughts turn to "Do it already?" because the author is dragging out the inevitable. I write erotic romance so you know you won't wait long in one of my stories. lol But I read a wide variety. I admit to getting a bit impatient.

Beaded book thong.

(see yesterday's post for yesterday's winner)

Good morning everyone,
sorry I'm late with my post. truthfully I have no idea what to blog about. lol. Last night I was listening to Matchbox 20 and working on Rough Justice. There is something totally sexy about Rob Thomas' voice. I think I could fall in love with a good voice. Love those smoky bedroom eyes and of course strong body.

but back to music. I also have to put on good sing along country to clean the house. And when I exercise I have to blast music and turn the turbo fan on high.

Do you use music to get you in the mood...for anything and have an new favorites I can check out?

Wednesday, July 23, 2008

Cowboys, cowboys, cowboys.

I took my boys to the rodeo last night. we had an absolute blast. I remember when Pierce was about 4, (he's 8 now) he was standing on the bleachers next to me so he could see over the crowd. The music started, the gate was pulled and the largest white bull you'd ever seen came storming from the shoot. Pierce nearly falls over, grabs my hair, releases a gasp of surprise, and says "Look Mom! Rhinos!" well, everyone around us exploded with laughter. It was a good time.

Last night was just great fun at the end of the show they had the flying aces motorcycle daredevils. Last week Pierce wanted to drive in the demolition derby, this week it is bronc riding or one of the daredevils.

I on the other hand couldn't stop the buckle bunny and cowboy stories from flitting through my mind. But I need to stay focused on my WIP. well, multiple works in progress. lol

Anyway today I am giving away perfume.
Post a comment - who's hotter--a slim hipped, rugged, cowboy wearing jeans, boots and a Stetson or a business man in a suit with a briefcase?
Personally I like a hard working, rugged guy who can clean up nice. :) I suppose that's why I write romance. I want it all! :)

It's here!

With or Without You by KyAnn Waters coming to Samhain Publishing Sept. 23rd!

So what makes a book cover for you? Hot hero, scenerie, do you care? And do you ever buy a book based on the cover? How important is the cover? If a cover was aweful, would you skim past the book or would you still read the blurb to see if it's something you'd like to read? I admit, if the cover doesn't hook me I'm likely to keep browsing. I don't want to read every blurb. I want the cover to convey the tone and content of the story. I'm happy with all of my covers except Marion's Train. While I think the cover is lovely, it doesn't fit my dark haired, exotic, soiled dove from my book. Marion is a firecracker and the woman on my cover looks regal.

So winner today gets Hot Blooded and a bonus prize for going to my website www.KyAnnWaters.com and emailing me (don't post it here otherwise you give away the answer :)) at kyannwaters@hotmail.com and since we're talking about a picture telling a story. tell me the names of my dogs.

Oh Yum! Impulsive Pleasures by KyAnn Waters

(see yesterday's comments for yesterday's winner)

Blurb: Jamie's daughter is getting married and now Jamie has to endure a weekend with her ex-husband and his new wife, the home-wrecking trollop. Jamie can be nice…yeah right. The asshole doesn't deserve nice. However, Jamie's bitterness just might be sweetened when young and sexy best man Mark Bentley arrives for the rehearsal dinner. Oh Yum! He might prove to be just the distraction Jamie needs. And if the ex has a problem with it…good.

Only Mark isn't interested in a little flirtation with the mother of the bride. He'd like the cougar to scratch her nails down his back. Will she invite him into her bed…or will he have to fuck her on the floor?

I'm so excited. Last night I received edits for Rough Justice, coming soon to Ellora's Cave. I've also submitted a new story to my editor this week so keep your fingers crossed.

With or Without You is coming to Samhain Publishing Sept. 23. Edits are done and I'm just waiting for approval on my cover then I can post. It is absolutely beautiful and sexy as hell.

Today I'll work on edits then tonight spend some time with my WIP. It's raining in Utah. Good day for coffee and a good book.

Enjoy your week. I'm going to post excerpts of Impulsive Pleasures in the comments. They are explicit.

Today, tell me anything.

You are in for a treat if you win this story!

Last night I took my boys out to my mom's for their cousin's birthday party. Grandma has a pool making summers fun. So I'm sitting on a deck chair with my 8 year old. And grandpa asks him where his dad is. Pierce informs him his dad had to go to the cops. so my whole family gasps and says oh my god what happened. At this point I start to laugh. I happily say nothing is wrong. He's gone to a concert...the Police.

This is also the child who informed me that Jesus Christ was named after a swear word, yep I'm busted on that one. lol

Do you have any fun kid's say the funnest things stories?

Sacrificial Hearts by Skhye Moncrief

(see yesterday's post for yesterday's winner)

Blurb:
Alone, Twila Deeds tries to find her lost brother and stumbles upon a cult she believes is preparing to sacrifice her in a Valentines-Day sex ritual. She learns her brother has joined the cult and claims to be saving her by bringing her into the fold. She can't trust her brat brother, a selfish teen who never did anything for anyone. Nor dare she trust the cult's gorgeous member who arrives to escort her to the cult's Scottish castle on his motorcycle. She has no intention of falling victim to the sacrificial blade before her baby brother is served his just dessert. But Illusion manifests as free will. (1st Point of Time Travel)

Gerard Abercrombie can't seem to convince Twila that his time-travel brotherhood has only her welfare in mind before his patience wears thin. Time-travel Code will save him because only the fairies know what the future holds as the Gods send two SACRIFICIAL HEARTS racing toward their destiny.

Skhye is an amazing writer and good friend. She is also participating in the 31 Days of Christmas in July so don't forget to visit her blog.

And to see other amazing stories visit her at http://www.skhyemoncrief.com/

My question for you today -- is there any genre you won't read?

Friday, July 18, 2008

Yay, the weekend is here. My family thinks we don't have plans. I do. The dreaded basement. Toys, laundry, clutter and crap. it just needs cleaned. As I was thinking about my blog this morning and deciding what to write and give-away, I looked at the titles I have yet to showcase. My husband is Scottish and I started to chuckle when I thought how he'd feel about his Highlander's Challenge--the basement. So thanks again to Jo for donating to my 31 Days of Christmas in July.
Visit Jo at www.JoBarrett.net

Blurb:Amelia Tucker, or Tuck as she prefers to be called, latest personal bodyguard assignment turns into one she'll never forget, thanks to a crazed kidnapper, one enchanted fountain, and a sixteenth century Highland Warrior determined to keep her under lock and key. Who will win this battle of wills?

So is there a challenge in your weekend?

Crashed by Lisa Dawn MacDonald

(see yesterday's post for yesterday's winner.)

Last night I took my boys and my neice to the amusement park. We don't usually go at night but it was fun to go because all the rides have lights. Anyway I will be dragging butt today.

Today I'm going to give away a copy of Crashed by Lisa Dawn MacDonald.

Blurb: Mars is angry and Mercury is retrograde. However Venus has Jessie French's back. She's crashed into Andrew Jordan's car and now she's crashing into his life.

**Excerpt**

Whew! Thankfully, Reliable Red hadn’t sustained a fatal blow. The damage blended with the chipped paint and rusted dents she’d acquired over the years.
She turned, glanced at the other vehicle, and groaned. Oh, her insurance rates were bound to take a hit, no doubt about it. She’d placed a lovely dent in the bumper of a fine BMW. Said bumper was barely attached to one end of the car. The other end rested on the street. A bit more damage than a typical fender-bender, but, hopefully, easily repaired.
Oh, perfect. The man she’d hit already had the officer’s rapt attention.
Nervous perspiration dampened the band of her bra. Squinting against the early morning sun, she pushed her sunglasses up her nose. No way would a smile get her out of this one. It shouldn’t have to. The damn light was yellow!
So much for not being late for the first day on the job. And she’d almost made it, too. Only two blocks from the office building, and she had to be behind the only man who didn’t know to hit the gas, and not the brakes, on yellow.
The man pointed to the light, pointed to the cars, and finally pointed at her as she approached. Good grief, it was a simple little fender-bender. If he could afford a BMW, he should be able to afford a dent.
“Excuse me,” Jessie interrupted. Oh my, the man was tall. She’d never been considered petite, yet she had to crane her neck to look into his face. The breadth of his shoulders blotted out the sun. Sandy blond hair and green eyes to swim in. Jessie marveled at the intense impact his physical appearance had on her tummy. Her heart jumped from an apprehensive beat to a fluttering tempo. Perhaps she should have checked her relationship forecast instead of her financial.
Her gaze traveled from his broad shoulders, stiff with tension, down the muscular chest that tapered to a trim waist. She swallowed hard. Thick thighs were encased in black Dockers. Those heart flutters drifted lower and morphed into a sexual twitch between her legs. She licked her upper lip. Nice package. She didn’t know what he did to afford a BMW, but the man wore working casual like a male model.

5 Hearts from the Romance Studio

"This is a great short story; it is a well-written, fast paced, fun story that really works. Jessie and Andrew are both fun, interesting characters, that the reader will thoroughly enjoy meeting. Ms. MacDonald has written a definite keeper."

Question today--

If you read a book that overall was pretty good, but a few aspects bothered you, does it ruin the story for you?

For example, recently I read a story where the hero is hot, loves the heroine, they overcame obstacles, but he did one of my pet peeves, he said things that he couldn't take back. Such as accused her of infidelity yet he took her virginity.

Duty Bound by Jo Barrett

(see yesterday's post for yesterday's winner)

It's early in the morning, the kids are sleeping and I'm blogging before I go workout with the neighbor. It's peaceful. I've got my coffee, the glow of the computer in the darkened room. And it just feels like the start of a great day.

Hope your day will be a good one. Have anything fun planned?

Today I'm giving away Duty Bound by Jo Barrett.

Blurb: Duty bound to protect and serve, Deputy Sheriff Michael McAllister is faced with the decision of whether or not he should turn Danielle Porter over to the authorities, or take her in his arms and never let go. His past taught him well the importance of abiding by the law, but when damning evidence points unfailingly to Danny, he isn’t so sure he can imprison the one woman who holds his heart.

Visit Jo at http://www.jobarrrett.net/. She has an amazing collection of published works and I can't thank her enough for contributing titles to my Christmas in July event. I know everyone participating would rather have books. =)

Wrong Number, Right Man give-a-way today.

(check yesterday's post for yesterday's winner)

I lost my cell phone last month. It's been hell. phone numbers gone, convenience gone. But I hate Sprint. so when my service is up in Sept I'm going to be shopping for a new plan. However, I needed a replacement phone till then. since Sprint's phones are so expensive, I went to the local dealer and bought a used one to get me through. UGH! no caller ID, the damn thing won't hold a charge, can't hear on it. it's broken my cell phone habit that's for sure. Any way that's my misery this week so I suppose I don't have anything to truly bitch about. =)
So today I'm giving away Darah Lace's Wrong Number, Right Man.

I absolutely LOOOOve this book. Hopefully Darah will stop by today and say hello.

Blurb: After too much wine, Lori Duncan calls her ex and initiates phone sex to prove him wrong--she's not boring and predictable. Jack Hartwell answers his roommate's phone and goes along with his sexy next door neighbor's game until he realizes her fantasy includes him and not his roommate. Was her slip of tongue intentional or just part of the game?
***
excerpt:
"Are you alone?"
The soft whisper rasped through the cell phone, but Jack Hartwell recognized his best friend's voice and figured what Lori really wanted to know was whether his roommate had left yet. "It's just me."
"What are you doing?"
Her hushed tone triggered his guilt. Adam had dumped her the week before, and she'd been hiding in her apartment next door, dodging Jack's attempts to check on her. He'd been the one to set them up and soon realized his mistake. He hated that she'd been hurt, but he was glad they'd broken up and was biding his time until she healed before he made his own move.
Hoping that time had come, he settled into the black leather recliner she helped him pick out almost a year ago and muted the volume on the television. "Watching the game."
"What are you wearing?"
***
Hopefully, Darah will come by and give us a longer tease.
***
So for my questions today
do you love a little phone tease and if you do . . .
what cell phone provider do you use and do you like them? (lol I'm shopping)
or better, is there a provider I should avoid?

The Pendulum [The Legacy Of The Celtic Brooch 1]

(see yesterday's post for yesterday's winner)

Today's winner will recieve Tarah Scott's The Pendulum.

Blurb: Can a woman bring an earl to justice for the murder of her sister?Lady Airin Keith will not rest until Lord Jason Bothwell is tried and convicted for the murder of his young wife. An unexpected marriage proposal brings an opportunity to prove Bothwell's guilt, but the knight who appears with her great grandmother's lost brooch threatens to interfere with Airin's brand of justice when he demands the agreed payment of marriage. A classic tale of murder, deceit and fraud that can be exposed only once the pendulum stops.
Excerpt:
She backed up a step. "W-what are you doing here?"
He stopped before her.
"Do you not have business elsewhere?" She winced at the squeak in her voice.
"Aye," he replied distractedly.
"What sort of business?"
Deryll reached behind her and lifted her braid over her shoulder. "The kind that does not concern you."
"What sort of business does not concern me? Sir Gewain is--"
Deryll's head snapped up. "Nothing I cannot handle," he finished.
The heat in her cheeks spread through her belly as, his gaze glued to hers, he lifted the end of her braid to his nose and breathed deeply. Airin's heart pounded against her chest. Hands, calloused and brown from years in the sun, held the braid as if it were a fragile flower. He breathed deeply again, as though to inhale her very essence.
"Is there any battle you can not handle?" she asked.
Deryll shifted his gaze to her face. "I am a man, Airin. No man is invincible."
Her girlhood hero was invincible. The hero who always saved his lady from all harm, who knew when to bestow a kiss, and never pressed her into an uncomfortable situation. This man was anything but those things.
Deryll's gaze dropped to her mouth. Would he kiss her?
* * *
Tarah writes medieval Scottish historicals. My favorite to read. Do you have a favorite period in history that consitantly draws you in?

It's going to be Hot in Utah today and I thought I'd share a bit about my newest release with The Wilder Roses.

Blurb: It’s hot as hell in Southern California, and Kelis LeBrun is having a bitch of a time keeping his focus and his fangs off the delicious looking Ms. Loni Soleil. Perhaps if it weren’t so bloody hot, he’d be able to stave off the hunger pangs. But the only way to do that is hot, sweaty sex…something he’d swore he’d never have with Loni. He couldn’t let her know he was a 300 year old vampire.
However, when they become trapped on an elevator during a rolling blackout Kelis discovers Loni has a few secrets of her own.

Reviews:
5 Blue Ribbons - The Romance Junkies
"KyAnn Waters never fails to thrill me with her storylines and the warmhearted way she presents each and every hero and heroine she brings to life through her writing."

4.5 Cherries Whipped Cream Reviews
"The one thing I look for in a vampire romance is a good bite scene and Kyann Waters knows how to deliver the goods. "Hot Blooded" is sensual, seductive and contains a surprise at the end that simply made me smile in delight.... I believe Ms. Waters to be a master--or is that a mistress?--story teller. In "Hot Blooded", she has taken the stereotypical vampire romance and turned it on its ear, presenting readers with a fresh and novel ending sure to please and amaze.Ms. Waters knows the proper way to write a vampire bite for full sexual impact, how to save a tortured hero and how to give a reader a refreshing, exciting and unique HEA. It’s all wrapped up in a short story aimed at the best of what vampire romances are known for -- a happily ever after you can sink your teeth into.

Today's winner will receive a table top cardboard cutout of Will Turner!

I also have a free read - Twisted Sex and Happenstance - available at The Wilder Roses. To Download

remote camp of forest firefighters. Shouldn't take more than a couple days.
Mitch knows how to fight fires, but can he control the intense flames of desire Samantha incites before they become out-of-control Wild Fires?

Congratulations to Eva S for winning Game On by Liza James. Please email me at KyAnnWaters@hotmail.com.

Thank you to everyone for continuing to play in my 31 days of Christmas in July blog event.

It's going to be another scorcher here in Utah again today. Yesterday at the waterpark I got a little too much sun, so today I'm staying in the house with the AC on and relaxing. hopefully I'll get a little writing done. Perhaps tonight with dh, I'll sit on the porch and sip a mojito.

El Draque, otherwise known as the Mojito.

Francis Drake and his horde of swashbuckling, pirates have been credited with creating the perfect cure for summertime heat. They’d tried to sack Havana and instead mixed my favorite drink.

How to mix the perfect Mojito according to Dallas, the vampire bartender from After Dark. The story is available in Ellora’s Cavemen Jewels of the Nile Volume II. http://www.ellorascave.com/.
First, you’ll need a tall, thin glass. I prefer mine frosted. With a mortar and pestle, crush sprigs of mint with sugar and lemon juice. Next drizzle the mixture into the glass and filled the glass with ice. Next you’ll need rum, I prefer Bacardi. If you’re talented, toss it into the air and catch it upside down over the ice. Top off the amber liquid with club soda. Finally, add a slice of lemon and another sprig of mint.
Enjoy.
Today I'll be giving away a deck of the Ellora's Cave covers carddeck.

Just tell me your favorite drink?
(I enjoy a mojito, but I love my Diet Pepsi)

After Dark is available now in the Ellora's Cavemen Vol II.
Kayla March has never reached orgasm...not even with a vibrator.

Congratulations to Kimberly B. email me at KyAnnWaters@hotmail.com. You win Jo Barrett's Hearts in the Dark.

Today I have a special guest- erotic romance author Liza James.

Liza and I are sisters of sizzle over at Erotic Cravings - where you go to feed the hunger. http://groups.yahoo.com/group/eroticcravings

Liza has several tempting treats out there, but today she is giving away a copy of one of my favorites, Game On.

This is a story that makes you cheer for the heroine and lust after the heroes. Yep, you get two delectable hotties in Game on.

Liza - I know you have a new very hot and sexy free read at http://www.thewilderroses.com/. Can you tell us a little about Mischief in the Garage?

Game On is a super sexy story. Have you ever done a little conspiring to get something you wanted? (this doesn't have to be kinky ;) )

You have 5 erotic stories avalable now with two different publishers.
Do you have a favorite?
Is there a hero from one of your stories you wish you could take home and keep for yourself?
And will you share a couple of excerpts by posting them in a comment? I thought Game On was a sexy fun read. I also truly enjoyed Branded. Tummy tugs, perfect hero, strong heroine.

Winner today will be randomly drawn from everyone who participates.

UPDATE - Excerpts are in the comments! Woo hoo thanks Liza!

Good Morning everyone.

It's Monday and after the long holiday weekend I'm dragging my butt to get going. I started a new story last night. I shut down the computer and headed to bed, but couldn't sleep. So I got back up and started writing again. Now I'm tired, but oh the lack of sleep is worth it. so this morning I'm going to take you through a simple meditation to help you balance for the upcoming week.

A simple Chakra meditation.

Sit or lie on your back. Start at your crown chakra, the top of your head. Imagine the pressure and stress of your day washing away.

Surround yourself with white light.

Draw your focus lower, to the third eye charka centered over the forehead. Once open will bring awareness to time, light and intuition.

Swallow. Relax the muscles in your face. Focus calming energy to the throat chakra, the center for communication.

Take a deep breath. Exhale. Allow your arms to hang limp at your sides. Focus on your chest, the heart chakra. Love, balance and harmony.

Spiritual and physical energy is centered in the solar plexus chakra. Deep breath. Slowly exhale. Release tension.

Imagine white light surrounding you. Focus your thoughts on the sacral chakra, the heart of your sexuality. Imagine calm, soothing warmth.

Finally, allow all tension to leave your body through the root charka. Strengthen your spiritual power, yet ground yourself so that you can focus and achieve your goals. Allow your body to become heavy, relaxed, open to the flow of energy through the chakras.

Deep inhale. Exhale.

In Delicious Darkness, Audra uses meditation and the power of the chakras to battle the bounty hunters. Can she save a fugitive from a dark dimension with her white light? Delicious Darkness by KyAnn Waters. Available at http://www.thewilderroses.com/

What do you like to do to relax?

the winner today one will receive Hearts in the Dark by Jo Barrett. visit Jo at http://jobarrett.net/
Blurb: Scarred from a terrible car accident, Tommi Wood hides her face from the world, while Marcus Ranger, the town giant, hides his enormous body and rough visage in a greenhouse full of orchids. When these two lonely souls find one another beneath a nighttime sky, will their newfound love survive in the bright light of day?

This past week I did a week long promotion. I had to write short essays. So I am going to repost here on my blog.

What happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas…
And it will probably be your money. Now I’m not the best person to ask for advice regarding battle in the casino pits. I had a lucky turn on the roulette wheel once, then lost it twenty minutes later at the blackjack table. Blame it on the greyhounds, and I’m not talking about the dog races. (For those who aren’t familiar, a greyhound is vodka and grapefruit juice.)
But here are the tidbits of advice I’ve received for gaming hell.

Blackjack- Never play dealer rules, and always hit on a twelve.
Now in craps, the advice was to pass or don’t pass and come or don’t come. But
I don’t play craps…and in my erotic world a woman…err…player should always come!
Should we talk slots? My advice, these are a good option after your third greyhound.
Video poker, the upside to this game is that you don’t risk losing your clothes, just your money.

In the Cougar Meets Her Master, available at http://www.thewilderroses.com/, Colt challenges Taylor. A night of sex decided on the turn of a card. Taylor knows one thing, the house always wins…or does it?
Do you gamble or play poker for Cherrios?
Winner today will receive a PDF of The Cougar Meets Her Master

5 Blue Ribbons Romance Junkies
4 Kisses Two Lips Reviews
4.5 Cherries Whipped Cream Reviews
